The story behind this concert and the one in Estoril is funny because Portugal was coming out of a revolution (April 1974) that had ended nearly 50 years of dictatorship. While traveling from Lisbon to Estoril Bill Evans would look at the walls and buildings and try to read what was painted there: R-E-V-O-L-U-Ç-Ã-O (revolution), he spelled quietly. On one of this trips the van which transported the Fender Rhodes (electric piano) seen in this video was halted at a popular road block and examined under the suspicion of carrying a heavy machine gun... once it was large and covered... Bill Evans loved the country anyhow.
